The role of a relationship counsellor

My role as a relationship counsellor is to support both parties within the relationship to facilitate change, to develop a deeper understanding of the other person's point of view and to improve communication.

I offer all clients a space that is safe for you to talk openly about what is going on for you in the relationship without fear of judgement or shame.

What are the signs that we need relationship counselling?

The reasons for attending professional counselling for relationships may differ depending on the type of relationship. For example, friendships have a much different relationship compared to a parental relationship. With this in mind, here are some of the reasons that you might want to consider counselling for your relationship:

  • The bad times outnumber the good.

  • You’re seeing a breakdown in communication.

  • Avoiding talking about the issues in a relationship.

Seeking counselling for relationships is more common than you might think, and there are trained professionals out there to help you. Whether you feel ready to take relationship counselling now, or if you simply have a few questions, feel free to contact me for more information.
